PROVINCIAL BUDGET INDABA

From today, the 7th and 8 August the provincial administration will be gathering in the Osner Hotel to discuss the provincial priorities 
for the 2001/02 budget.

This workshop will be attended by the Honourable Premier, all MECs, Chairperson for the Standing Committee for Finance and provincial top 
management.

The Premier Makhenkesi Stofile, will be the keynote speaker today at 15h00 by setting the framework for policy prioritization and other 
government imperatives. MEC Enoch Godongwana will outline budgetary challenges of the province. From these presentations, discussions will 
then ensue among delegates on how to strategically link the provincial development plan with the budget allocation that the province has.

The second day of the Indaba will mainly deal with technical issues pertaining to budgeting. The Deputy Director-General of the National 
Ministry Department of Finance Mr. Momoniat Ismail, will share the platform with the provincial Director-General Dr Mvuyo Tom, the Head of 
Department and Official Head of Treasury Mr. Monde Tom and the Chief Director for Treasury Mr. Jos te Braake.

The outcome of the Indaba will determine how the provincial budget will be allocated and the resolutions will form the base of the budget 
speech to be made next year in March.
